Bhutan’s First Code Challenge – 15 to 16 December, 2018.

Bhutan Code Challenge 2018 is Bhutan’s first hackathon to be organised in the country for providing the grounds for fresh ideas, with necessary tools to stimulate the creative and solutions to the problems faced by the citizens through innovative tech products.

This hackathon is being organized in line with Bhutan’s ICT vision to become a knowledge-based society and the vision of Thimphu TechPark to be a vibrant body in providing opportunities for innovation, development and employment, and promoting the growth of IT industry in Bhutan.

This would be an annual hackathon to be organised every year and the winners of the hackathon would be provided Business Incubation for their startup through the Bhutan Innovation and Technology Center.

Training on Cyber Security Essentials for the IT Professional

The importance of cyber security in this digital era cannot be overstated. Experts believe that technology is more vulnerable than ever to external attack. A heart pacemaker, a dam, the grid supplying power to a city or even a traffic system is open to hacking. Companies spend millions in cyber security threat assessment and damage control.

Bhutan has been lucky not to have faced any major cyber security incidents so far. But we cannot be complacent. The BIABPO Mission is to expand the nascent BPO industry in Bhutan, to create new and sustainable jobs for Bhutanese youth; to empower the Bhutanese economy by bringing more wealth to the nation by creating a substantial new export industry; and, to improve social stability and decentralisation of employment opportunities.

The BIABPO Vision is to create 2,000 new permanent direct jobs in Bhutan by the end of 2023.
