Jigme Thinley Namgyal
Mr. Jigme Thinlye Namgyal, Chairman of the Board of Thimphu TechPark Ltd., serves full time as the Director General of Department of IT & Telecom, Ministry of Information and Communications. He served for 18 years in the Department of Civil Registration and Census, Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs. Then he worked as Project Director for the new citizenship identity card project from 2002-2004. During the first ever Population and Housing Census conducted in 2005, he worked both as Project Manager and Chief Demographer. As the Project Director for G2C Project, an e-Government project of Bhutan, he initiated and automated many services, which reduced turn-around-time benefiting citizens immensely. In 2011, he was selected as the Director of Department of Labour where he brought in many changes and streamlined and decentralized the delivery of services to the Regional Offices. In 2016 he was transferred to the Department of IT & Telecom. Besides undergoing many management and leadership courses, he is a trained demographer.
Mr. Karma Tshewang is currently working as the Director of Technical Department in Bhutan Telecom. He joined the erstwhile Department of Telecom under Ministry of Communications in 1996 after graduating with a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from PennState University, USA. Even after the Department of Telecom was corporatized as Bhutan Telecom Ltd. in July 2000, he has continued to work there in various capacities and has vast experience in the telecom industry. He has been instrumental in developing telecommunication network in the Kingdom of Bhutan, in particular, in the extension of telecom services to the rural communities of Bhutan.
Mr. Dorji Khandu received his MBA degree from The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. He started his career as a civil servant in the Department of Revenue and Customs under the Ministry of Finance (MoF). Mr. Dorji joined Druk Holding and Investments after resigning from the civil service. Currently, he is working as Sr. Business Analyst under the Department of Investment in Druk Holding And Investments Limited (DHI).
Mr. Dawa Sonam is the IT Head at Druk Holding and Investments (DHI). He started his career as an Engineer at Bhutan Telecom in 2004, and gradually rose to the positions of Manager at DrukNet, and then Head of Billing and International Affairs prior to joining DHI in 2015. He has Masters in Information Technology and Postgraduate Diploma in Internetworking and Security from Murdorch University, Western Australia. He did his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Madras University, India.
Tshering Cigay Dorji
Dr Tshering Cigay Dorji has a Masters and Ph.D in computer engineering (informatics) from the University of Tokushima, Japan, and Master of Management from the University of Canberra, Australia. He has about 15 years’ combined experience in programming, teaching, information system design, database administration, research and senior level management in the corporate sector. His first degree was B.E. Electrical Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Wollongong, Australia, awarded in December 1999. He has previously worked with Bhutan Telecom for several years as system and database administrator, research engineer and head of Billing & International Affairs.
Ms. Choden joined TTPL in January 2012 and is currently working as the Office Manager and Company Secretary. She is also responsible for providing support, training and mentoring to the entrepreneurs associated with Bhutan Innovation and Technology Centre, the first business incubator located inside Thimphu TechPark. She graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Applications from AVS College of Arts & Science, Tamilnadu, India, in 2009. Prior to joining TTPL, she has worked in the news media industry as a marketing officer for three and half years during which she received training in marketing and branding from the Times of India. She has also completed the training ‘Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility’ from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad, in 2013, the ‘Social Partnership for Business Development’ from Aahus Tech, Denmark, in 2014, and the ‘Training of Trainers for New Business Creations and Marketing’ organized by CEFE Sri Lanka- and the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Bhutan, in 2015. She is a trained mentor for budding entrepreneurs.
Mr. Karma Tshewang
Mr. Karma Tshewang joined TTPL in 2014 as the Finance Officer. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree majoring in Finance from Gaeddu College of Business Studies (GCBS), Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) in 2013. While in college, he served as a student councilor and as a member of the Senior Management Committee (SMC). He has completed the training “Crash Course in Book-keeping with Tally & Income Tax Filing” from KheyRig Institute of Accounts & Management (KIAM), Bhutan, in 2014 and the “International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) Training” from Ernst & Young, Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2015.
Mr. Passang Dorji is the Director of the Department of Investments in Druk Holding and Investments (DHI). He heads business development, projects and private sector division. He has an Engineering Degree from Thammasat University, Thailand and a MBA Degree from Asian Institute of Management, Philippines. He has a PG diploma in Management Information System and Management Control from MSM, Netherlands. He started his career in the private sector, then moved to Bhutan Power Corporation and was the Company Secretary prior Druk Holding and Investments. Passang is on the Board of Bank of Bhutan and previously, he has served as a board director in Bhutan Telecom and State Trading Corporation of Bhutan.
Mr. Dorji Nima is a Senior Analyst responsible for Corporate Performance at DHI. Before that, he worked as an Analyst for DHI’s Consulting Services Unit for more than two years. He has a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship, Melbourne, Australia. He received RGoB scholarship to pursue Bachelor of Business Administration in Madras University, India in 2001.
Karma Sonam Dorji
Karma Sonam Dorji served as a Senior Analyst in DHI, under Department of Investments before she resigned in 2014. Ms. Dorji worked in the government for 10 years, before joining DHI, as a Senior Trade Officer heading the Export Promotion and as Project Manager for EC-Bhutan Trade Capacity Development. She was a Task Force Member involved in formulation of the Economic Development Policy of Bhutan and Committee Member for Foreign Direct Investment Review Committee and Industrial Project Appraisal Committee. Also Looked after the Bilateral and Regional Trading Arrangements (India, Bangladesh, Nepal, SAPTA/SAFTA and BIMSTEC). Was also a key Member of the Negotiating Team for Bhutan’s accession to the WTO when the process was in progress. She has an MBA in International Business and Management from Hanzehogeschool, University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, The Nethelands, and BA in International Business Administration from Reitaku University, Japan.
Michael D. Holland
Michael D. Holland, FRICS, is an industry leader who has been at the forefront of professional real estate services in South Asia for over a decade. He has 25 years of international experience in commercial real estate in Asia, Europe and the USA. Since 2007, he has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Assetz Property Group, focused on driving the growth of the company across diverse sectors including office, retail, hotel and residential. Mike is on the Board of Director for a number of companies in the real estate domain and is a member of the Investment Committee for Prudential ICICI India Real Estate Fund as well as holding the position of Learning Chair for Corenet Global India Chapter. He is also a member of the RICS India External Affairs Board. Prior to Assetz, Mike has worked in senior positions in Asia Pacific with Microsoft Corporation and Jones Lang LaSalle.
Mr. Nidup Dorji was a Director of TTPL and Chief Executive Officer of Bhutan Telecom Limited (BTL). An alumnus of the prestigious Oxford University, UK, he took over as the CEO of BTL in 2011 after an illustrious career spanning 20 years in the civil service and academia. Prior to joining BTL, he was the Director of College of Science and Technology, the Royal University of Bhutan.
Pushpa Mani Pradhan
Mr. Pushpa Mani Pradhan is currently working as the Director of Technical Department in Bhutan Telecom. He joined the erstwhile Department of Telecom under Ministry of Communications in 1988 after graduating with a bachelors degree of engineering in Electronics and Communications from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, India. Even after the Department of Telecom was corporatized as Bhutan Telecom Ltd. in July 2000, he has continued to work there in various capacities and has vast experience in the telecom industry. He has been instrumental in developing telecommunication network in the Kingdom of Bhutan starting from open wire days to the modern digital communications systems.
