1. Facilitating Foreign Direct Investment

We facilitate Foreign Direct Investment in Bhutan for foreign companies/investors coming to locate at the Thimphu TechPark, Bhutan’s first IT Park. Thimphu TechPark is a Special Economic Zone with the following fiscal incentives offered by the Royal Government of Bhutan ( more details here ):

A tax holiday of ten years for IT/ITES businesses operating within the IT Park and exporting 80% of their products/services.

Import of capital goods forming direct inputs for the IT/ITES companies in the IT Park shall be exempted from customs duty and sales tax.

100% foreign equity participation shall be permitted for the IT/ITES companies in the IT Park.

Government ensures that the cost of Internet at the IT Park is at par with that in India.

The IT Park offers Grade A infrastructure, redundancy in mains and back-up power with power available at under 30% of the cost in other parts of the region. It also offers high-capacity dual feed internet connectivity through redundant optical fiber connectivity.

The following are the steps that an investor needs to go through to start operating his/her business from the IT Park:

Step 1. The investor from abroad submits a business proposal for his intended operations at the IT Park, Bhutan.

Step 2. The investor visits Bhutan and makes a presentation to the stakeholders of the IT Park, viz. Ministry of Information and Communications and Thimphu TechPark management. Thimphu TechPark will assist the investor with the travel arrangements.

Step 3. The Ministry of Information and Communication assists the investor in getting his/her business registered with the FDI Division, Ministry of Economic Affairs. Step 4. The investor signs a lease agreement with Thimphu TechPark management and starts operations from Bhutan.

2. Leasing space to commercial companies

We lease fully developed commercial spaces for IT/ITES and technology to both domestic and international companies which are already operating in Bhutan. These companies may also be eligible for the fiscal incentives mentioned above depending on the nature of their business.

3. Trainings and Workshops

Thimphu TechPark Pvt. Ltd (TTPL) and BITC conduct regular trainings and workshops on leadership, management, entrepreneurship, business development, finance, customer service etc. with their network of experts from all around the globe. In addition to its regular workshops/trainings, TTPL and BITC also conduct custom-designed trainings and workshops based on the demand of its client companies/organisations.

4. Conference rooms and training rooms hire

We hire out of training rooms and conference rooms (including projectors, white boards etc.) at the following rates:

5. Hiring out big hall (10,000 Sq. ft) for conference/exhibitions

We can hire out of a huge hall (10,000 Sq. feet) that can accommodate up to 400 people for conference, seminars or exhibitions. However, this is dependent on availability.

6. Business incubation service

Providing incubation space for start-ups and new projects/ventures of existing businesses at Bhutan Innovation and Technology Centre (BITC), located in a 10,000 Sq. Feet fully furnished plug and play space in the ground floor of Thimphu TechPark building. For details please visit

7. Data Centre Services

Thimphu TechPark houses Bhutan’s first international standard Data Centre designed and built as multi-tier facility – tier 2 and above, as per TIA 942/UI. The Data Centre: provides data storage and management services for government, for occupants of Thimphu TechPark and for third party commercial users. It is designed and built to Tier II Data Centre specs as classified by Uptime Institute (upgradable to Tier III, based on demand for such services). For details, please visit

8. Networking and business matching service

TTPL and BITC also offers networking and business matching services between Bhutanese entrepreneurs and international companies.

9. Visiting experts program for foreign experts
